The Canarreos Archipelago
The Canarreos Archipelago, is an archipelago located in the Southwest coast of Cuba that, together with the Isla de la Juventud it closes for the south part the wide gulf of Batabanó.
The Canarreos Archipelago it is compound for more than 300 Cayos and tropical islands of blinding beauty and singular exoticism that forms marvelous oasis in the Caribbean. Cayo Largo del Sur is the only one inhabited and dedicated entirely to the international tourist
The Canarreos Archipelago constitutes a rosary of islands and islands of recent origin (created during the quaternary one), formed almost exclusively for limestones and with very shot sizes.
Because its own condition of tropical islands these cayos has a warm climate with not very accented winters. The hottest month is August, with a half temperature of 28 C and the coldest is January, with 23.6 C, while the half annual temperature of the sea is of 26.4 C.
A mangroves vegetation prevails, refuge of marine fauna and birds like flamingos and parrots. The main and almost only wealth of this archipelago is the commercial fishing, centered in species like lobster, turtle, oysters, cherna, sponges and coral extractions for craft.
